Topsy-turvy Times: Drunk in Desires

What was yours yesterday
Isn't yours today.
Will what is yours now
still be yours tomorrow?

Sorcery of human life steals
The fantasy of what's yours.
In emptiness, serenity there is;
A primitive sense of peace.

A heart full of desires bring
A life full of passion spring
What you wish for, is you;
So, what are you but longing for?

The things you run after!
Are you worthy of them?
is a question lesser relevant.
Are they worthy of you after all?

Have you had a little talk
with the new Lilly that's bud?
Have you taken a little walk
with the buddy next door?

When is the last time
You danced your spirit out?
When is the last time you
tuned into your soul's hymn?

The masks we are forced to wear,
on the daily stage of life's theater
Had we to remove them, layer by layer
Would we still be proud of what remains?

Yes, time is a little trickster where
Ambitions slowly knits it's trap.
Success is but a sweet dream,
While worry is a slippery slope.

As you step out and catch a breath
Not only is the morning sunshine yours
but the evening twilight has a tale to tell
Abundance of life awaits it's little child.

Oh dear! are you still stuck!!
In the mirage of stocks and bonds?
Who sold you this velvet dream?
It's as trippy as the wine in our hands.

Drunk in desires
Aren't we puppets,
in the hands of the rich?
Such topsy-turvy times!
